More than 160 exhibitors and over 200 speakers participated in the IoT Solutions World Congress in Barcelona, showcasing a more mature IoT concept than in previous years. The event highlighted not only the quality of the organization and the number of exhibitors but also the consolidation of the Internet of Things (IoT) concept. “We’ve noticed the IoT is no longer a novelty, and companies are beginning to invest in these kinds of products,” says David de Celis, Business Development.

As Accent Systems, we were among the few companies at the Congress offering hardware products, not just software solutions. “Every day, more sectors are interested in the Internet of Things, recognizing the importance of managing data, analytics, and parameters. Industries like agriculture, transport, and restoration, which were distant from connectivity and big data a few years ago, are now getting closer,” explains CEO Jordi Casamada.

We welcome companies with innovative technological ideas but lacking the tools to execute them. We listen to their needs and, with our expert engineers, design the best tailored solutions. “One of the most significant differences between this IoT Congress and the previous edition is the first question from visitors at our booth. This time it was: ‘How can we do it?’, rather than ‘What do you do?’ as it was last year,” says de Celis. This indicates that Accent Systems is a well-established business in the IoT world. “Even more,” emphasizes CTO Oriol Patau, “many people already know us for our iBKS beacons.”

Industry Representation

Every step at the IoT Congress was surrounded by software, IoT platforms, and cloud solutions. Most exhibitors focused on this business line, with companies like Microsoft, Intel, Dell Technologies, and Red Hat showcasing their software solutions for managing connected products.

For smart cities, SAP presented “Live Connected City,” a pilot project with traffic light sensors estimating traffic and providing analytics and predictions. Another interesting example for the industry sector was the Yumi Robot (ABB), designed to assist operators in performing precise tasks, especially in the electronics industry.

We are experiencing the Industrial Revolution 4.0, where all machinery and objects will be connected, and Accent Systems is at the heart of it.

“We are 100% transversal. We are not focused on just one sector, but we have the technology that can be applied to develop every product, in every vertical,” explains Patau.

NB-IoT: The Future of Connectivity

NB-IoT is gaining importance in the IoT sphere. (Read the interview with our CEO and CTO about it). Major telecommunications companies like Huawei and Vodafone showcased prototypes of connected products using this emerging technology, expected to hit the market in 2017.

“NB-IoT is currently at the forefront, and we believe it will revolutionize the IoT. It’s amazing to see new options for connecting devices emerging daily, benefiting us by allowing us to offer our customers the best solutions for each project,” affirms Casamada.

Events like the IoT Solutions World Congress are excellent for generating new business opportunities. As Patau says, “these events are a huge opportunity to mature as a company. They provide valuable market trend information and offer strategic business direction insights,” and Casamada reaffirms, “It’s the best way to gain recognition as a company and meet potential customers, as well as start partnerships with large enterprises.”
