PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
This is a project with beacon technology that we have carried out in the Hong Kong Metro. We have installed iBKS beacons in the metro stations with the aim of improving the user experience during their travels.
Thanks to the beacons and a mobile application, passengers can know on which platform they should catch their train, receive alerts when they are approaching their stop, or track their routes.

HOW IT WORKS
The beacons are installed in strategic locations within the metro stations (usually on the ceiling). When the signal they emit is read by the corresponding mobile application, the passenger will receive an action: information about their route, their train, alerts, etc.
HOW WE DID IT
The project has been a pilot for MTR Hong Kong. We developed a custom beacon with an amplifier so that the signal would have more range and installed them. This project was a finalist in the IOT Awards 2014.
